- Different types of financial instrument: equity, debt and derivatives
- How new securities are created and distributed
- The relationship between bond prices and interest rates
- The purpose and basic concepts of financial statements
- How shares are traded and valued on stock markets
- Basic investment arithmetic including discounted cash flow analysis
- How a share index like the FTSE100 is computed
- Elements of asset management and portfolio theory
- Demystifying hedge funds and private equity
- Who does what in an investment bank or asset manager
The course draws widely on real life examples and cases, as well as providing practice in key quantitative techniques, but without exam-style pressure.
Cost

This covers 7 hours of tuition (excluding short coffee and tea breaks) per day with free loan of a Texas Instruments BA II Plus calculator throughout the course.
